GEOMETRY
GRADES 9, 10, 11, 12
1 CREDIT
2 SEMESTERS
1.0 GRADE WT.

Prerequisites:
Algebra 1

Students will analyze characteristics and properties of two and three-dimensional geometric shapes and develop mathematical arguments about geometric relationships. They will apply geometric definitions, postulates, and theorems to solve problems using algebraic processes.

REMARKS: Texas Instrument Graphing Calculator (TI-84 plus or TI-NSpire) is strongly recommended.

Curriculum Goals

Goal 1 - Students will identify definitions, symbols, and basic concepts of geometry.

Goal 2 - Students will apply logic and reasoning skills to geometric relationships.

Goal 3 - Students will apply symmetry and transformations of figures.

Goal 4 - Students will apply angle relationships to solve problems.

Goal 5 - Students will apply properties and theorems of congruence.

Goal 6 - Students will identify properties of triangles and apply geometric relationships to solve problems.

Goal 7 - Students will identify properties of quadrilaterals and apply geometric relationships to solve problems.

Goal 8 - Students will identify properties of similar figures and apply geometric relationships to solve problems.

Goal 9 - Students will identify properties of right triangles and apply geometric relationships to solve problems.

Goal 10 - Students will identify parts of circles and apply geometric relationships to solve problems.

Goal 11 - Students will identify properties of other polygons and apply geometric relationships to solve problems.

Goal 12 - Students will identify parts of solid figures and apply geometric relationships to solve problems.
