Prerequisites: Orientation to Family and Consumer Sciences is recommended

Students will learn how to cope with the responsibilities, satisfaction, and stresses of parenthood.  This course looks at the different stages of pregnancy and the importance of physical and emotional needs of each child.  Topics such as selecting health care, substitute child care, schooling, and the teenage years are discussed.  Stress management and prevention techniques and the work of the community agencies that help parents deal with the various types of parenting crisis are emphasized.


REMARKS:  GAP 9 students may enroll.  An articulation agreement is in place for this course at Joliet Junior College; see page 5 for more details.
