Students will hone their skills of observation, thinking, and expression. Students will develop an appreciation for local and current affairs and an ability to read the newspaper intelligently. Students acquire skills in accurate, concise, creative, and forceful expression of ideas and gain an understanding of the role of the press, radio, and television in a democracy. Practical reporting and writing assignments are made to prepare students for advanced work in publications.
REMARKS: This course is not a substitute for any of the English 1-4 courses required for graduation.
