Prerequisites: English 1

Students will continue to practice critical reading and writing skills honed in English 1. Additionally, students will participatein a variety of speaking situations. Students will gain self-confidence through experiences with group discussion, individual speeches, oral readings, and other oral communication activities. Emphasis is placed on reading and interpreting fiction and nonfiction, analyzing information from literature and research, writing both formal and personal essays, and applying critical reading techniques to prepare speeches which reflect depth in research,formal organization, M.L.A. documentation, and sophisticated understanding of evidence.
