Welcome to Joliet Township Athletics! The two sports programs have gotten off to a great start this year. This has been due to the overwhelming response of our students at Joliet Township District 204. As we move forward we must continue to remember that the main goal of the split of the sports program is to create additional opportunities for our students. The split of the athletic programs has done just that. In the fall we had a total of 900+ plus athletes participating at both campuses. Amazingly, in the 2006-2007 school year, there were 1200 athletes for all seasons combined. We still have two seasons to go! As we continue to develop our programs it will be of utmost importance to exercise patience. Many of the programs have only existed at one campus or the other and it will take some time to develop and mold our programs into what we want them to be. Also, just exposing kids to the opportunities that exist will take some time and work. We will continue to work with our feeder schools and community programs as partners in this process. I am so proud of our coaches at both campuses and how they have handled this very exciting time. Many of our varsity coaches lost athletes in the split but always kept focus on the task at hand and never complained or made excuses. The coaches understood that our school district, our community, and their individual schools would be better by creating more opportunities for our youth. Thank you to our parents and community to make this dream come true in Joliet again. You can be assured that the Athletic Department will continue to work hard to make the Joliet Central Steelmen and Joliet West Tigers the best that they can be. See you at the games!

Thank You Peg Bryan…
The JTHS Family is deeply saddened by the recent passing of long-time Joliet Township High School volleyball supporter, Peg Bryan.
Peg was a fixture in the District 204 volleyball and athletic programs. “Peg never missed a volleyball game,” said Joliet Central High School Athletic Director Steve Locke. “In my twelve years of participation in high school athletics I have never met a more giving person than Peg Bryan.”
Peg bravely battled cancer for over a decade and remained one of the most dedicated supporters of JTHS athletics. Bryan’s involvement in JTHS volleyball included the coordination of Volley for the Cure, which raised over $8,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation over the past three years. Bryan and her husband, Sam, also provided a scholarship each year to a girls volleyball player in honor and memory of their daughter.
Peg will be greatly missed.
