PSAE Grade 11
11th Grade testing is conducted in April each year.
The Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) measures the achievement of grade 11 students in
reading, mathematics, and
science.
The PSAE includes three components: (1) the
ACT, which includes the ACT battery of four multiple-choice tests (English, mathematics, reading, and science), (2) an ISBE-developed science assessment, and (3) two
WorkKeys assessments (
Applied Mathematics and
Reading for Information).
The ACT® test assesses high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work.
· The multiple-choice tests cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science.
· The Writing Test, which is optional, measures skill in planning and writing a short essay.
ACT's EPAS® Educational Planning and Assessment System was developed in response to the need for all students to be prepared for high school and the transitions they make after graduation.
The EPAS system provides a longitudinal, systematic approach to educational and career planning, assessment, instructional support, and evaluation. The system focuses on the integrated, higher-order thinking skills students develop in grades K-12 that are important for success both during and after high school.
