Honors Testing Grade 8
8th Grade Honors Testing is conducted in December each year. Testing is offered on 2 Saturdays in December. Students may tests at either campus, students must arrive 15 minutes early to check in, pre-registration is not needed.
Honors testing is comprised of 2 assessments:
The Cognitive Skills Index (CSI) is an aptitude test. The 4 areas tested are sequences, analogies, memory, and verbal reasoning. The CSI compares a student's cognitive ability with that of students who are the same age without regard to grade placement.
The writing sample is an additional tool used to determine English and Social Science placement. Students are given a writing prompt and will have 1 hour to complete a writing sample in response to the prompt.
