Friends of Rachel Club
Rachel Scott was the first person killed in the Columbine High School tragedy on April 20, 1999. She left behind an amazing legacy and a simple challenge to anyone who will accept it – treat others with kindness and compassion and you just may change the world you live in.
I Accept Rachel’s Challenge
- Look for the best in others – eliminate prejudice
- Dare to Dream – Set Goals – Keep a Journal
- Choose Positive Influences
- Kind Words & Actions = Huge Results
- Start a Chain Reaction
The Friends of Rachel Club promotes a chain reaction of kindness in our school and community. The four focus areas of the Friends of Rachel Club are:
- Writing note of thanks to people within our school and the community
- Welcoming new students to our school
- School Outreach
- Community Outreach
Accomplishments of Friends of Rachel Club:
- Prepared and delivered twelve food baskets and hams to Guardian Angels for Groundwork Domestic Violence Program
- The CASA Club was in charge of an activity promoting Rachel’s Challenge for the month of December. They did a Pass it On Christmas ornament project.
- Thank you notes were delivered to the cafeteria and maintenance workers
Remember – “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it’s the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead
