Background
The JTHS Foundation was chartered in 1987. Its first President was Doug Ziech elected in 1988. The Foundation was instituted as 501©3 to generate alternative sources of revenue thus enriching the educational opportunities of the students of District 204.
The Foundation by-laws indicate the Directors are charged with the responsibility of raising and dispersing funds that directly benefit the students, faculty and staff of the Joliet Township High Schools. Since its inception the Foundation has awarded over $85,000 in grants to students, faculty and staff.
With its not-for-profit status, the JTHS Foundation is chartered by the State of Illinois as a qualified 501©3 charitable organization. All contributions are tax deductible within the limits stated by law. All monies are shared between the two high schools.
Mission Statement
To organize fundraising projects, events and partnerships to generate financial support which directly benefit Joliet Township High School District 204 students, faculty, and staff.
Goals
- Enhance the school experience enabling students, faculty and staff to purchase enrichment items in addition to those funded by the district
- Provide funding for quality projects and for activities that allow students the opportunity to excel
- Award scholarships and grants to JTHS graduates for post-secondary education
- Promote a positive image of the schools in the community
Accomplishments
- Provided awards, grants, and scholarships to students, faculty and staff at two district high schools.
- Supported workshops, tech prep projects and student assistance programs
- Provided videos of alumni achievement to the school libraries
