"WELCOME BACK ALUMNI" PARTIES -  Tigers and Steelmen - Get your classmates together for a great time!

On Friday, Sept. 14, begin your Tiger homecoming activities the night before the game with this party at Heroes West.  It
begins at 7PM ending at 11 o'clock.  A complimentary selection of appetizers and pizza are available throughout the event
for just $10.00 per person.  Pay at the door!  Cash bar.

NOTE:  Please make reservations for each party by calling the alumni relations office at (815) 727-6763 or by emailing Betty Rostan, alumni assistant, at brostan@jths.org.  Although it is "pay at the door," we need to know how many to expert at each party for the Heroes food order.   

A CENTURY OF MUSIC

AND THE BAND PLAYED ON...2012 marks the 100th anniversary of the JTHS band program.  The JTHS Band Alumni Association is planning a musical salute and concert to celebrate this proud history.  The alumni band will welcome musicians from all over the country representing each of the campuses....musicians who are Steelmen, Kingsmen and Tigers!

The 100th anniversary concert presented by the JTHS Band Alumni Association will be held on Sunday afternoon, July 29, at the JT Central auditorium.  In addition, there are many activities being planned for Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28 for this exceptional celebration.  To learn more about the JTHS Band Alumni Association, the 100th anniversary and how you can be part of this historical series of events, please visit the alumni band web site at www.jthsbaa.org.

"STRIKE UP THE BAND"

The Joliet Area Historical Museum is preparing an exhibit entitled "Strike Up the Band" to showcase the JTHS band program from its beginning to 2012.  A committee has been formed to assist Heather Bigeck, the museum's curator, in telling the story of this exceptional music program and its storied history.  The exhibit will open in time for the band's 100th anniversary!

The museum has a wish list and is hoping to fulfill its "wishes" with the help of former bandsmen and/or family members.  The list includes the following items: recordings/films; a drum major's uniform; a band sponsor uniform; an original butcher's uniform; trophies; and type of band artifact; information on the band of the 1960s and beyond; information on the band's trip to the 1964 World's Fair in New York City; pictures of the band playing for the troops leaving from Union Station; concert attire both old and new; sheet music of the band's recordings, and instruments.  Especially important to the exhibit would be pre-1950 film footage of the bands; recordings, and information regarding the relationship/friendship between A.R. McAllister and John Phillip Sousa.

The museum would greatly appreciate assistance in securing any/all of the above items for this unique and very special exhibit.  In lending items to the museum, please note that all objects, artifacts, etc., will be catalogued and returned to its owner following the exhibit.  Due to the exhibit's extensive subject matter covering 100 years of band history, there may be space limitations and, perhaps, not all items lent to the museum will be able to be displayed.
