JOSHUA WOJNAROWSKI NAMED MR. J
Joshua Wojnarowski was named the 55th Mr. J at the Mr. and Ms. J annual banquet held April 16. Mr. J is the highest individual award that is presented at Joliet Township High School-Central Campus. Joshua's parents are Daniel and Dawn Wojnarowski.
The tradition of selecting two high school seniors who best represent the ideals of JT Central began in 1958. The selection of Mr. and Ms. J begins with listing any eight semester senior who has achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above at the end of the seventh semester. The twenty finalists are then interviewed by a panel of teachers and community members. The finalists are judged on the basis of personality, poise, activities, and service to the school and community.
Joshua is a two-year varsity starter. He earned All-Conference recognition last season as a pitcher. Joshua is a senior captain, starting first baseman, and the team's number one pitcher. The entire baseball program sends their congratulations to Joshua and his family.
MORE CONGRATULATIONS FOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

CONGRATULATIONS TO TWO STUDENT-ATHLETES
Matthew Hall, a junior infielder and pitcher, was inducted into the national mathematics honor society, Mu Alpha Theta. He was also recognized as an All-Conference Mathlete for the 2011-2012 school year at the induction ceremony. Matthew Hall was also voted President for the 2012-13 school year.
Joshua Wojnarowski is a finalist for the ideal Joliet Central male student. Joshua was interviewed by staff, administration and community members for the honor of being named Mr. J. Winners will be announced at the Mr and Ms. J banquet scheduled in April.

JTC BASEBALL FANS:
Welcome to year two of varsity baseball at Joliet Township - Central. My name is Tony Juarez. I am a 1982 graduate of Joliet Central. I have taught and coached for Joliet West, Joliet Central and the combined Joliet Township athletic teams since 1986. This will be my second tour as a head coach in baseball for District 204. I coached the Joliet Township program for six years, compiling a record of 109-89.
The philosophy of the coaching staff at Joliet Central will be to instill in our players the importance of self-confidence and to apply some basic principles on and off the field. The principles include:
mastering basic fundamental skills
having discipline
being goal-oriented
showing a strong work-ethic
taking pride in one's work
demonstrating the ability to work with others
displaying the ability to overcome adversity
exhibiting high moral standards
These are the same objectives that we are trying to achieve in a traditional classroom setting.
We understand that the vast majority of athletes we will have will be unable to make a living playing baseball. However, we will convey to our players that lessons learned through baseball can be applied to life in general. We need our athletes to understand that we want them to be great men of character, not just a great ball player.
Our freshmen coaches will teach and emphasize the fundamental skills of playing baseball that our players must have to prepare them for the opportunities at the next level. On the sophomore level, the coaching staff will focus on more advanced skills, including the mental aspect of the game to prepare them for varsity competition. The varsity staff will refine those advanced skills to compete against the top competition in the state of Illinois. We aspire for our players during a situation to react, almost instinctively, rather than be slow in their decision-making process and possibly miss out on making a game-saving play. We want to get our players to the point where every situation they come across they will know what to do, and just importantly, be able to execute the correct response quickly. In addition, we are preparing our athletes for the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level. Our players will be held to the highest standards academically, socially and athletically. We stress the team concept because playing as one provides the best opportunity for success on all levels.
Our expectations for our parents are to be supportive of the staff and team members. It is vital to the success of our program for the players to attend every practice and game with their teammates. Players must arrange for transportation on weekends and non-school days by working out a plan with other parents to car pool, especially on the lower levels. Encourage your son to take care of his body and eat right. Our players and staff have many responsibilities during practice and game days. To give us the best chance to be successful, their full attention should be on the job at hand. Please do not address players, coaches, or officials during practices or games. If you have questions or would like to speak with a member of the coaching staff please wait until after the practice or game is complete to schedule a meeting.
GO CENTRAL...BEAT WEST!!
