Joliet Central Girls Bowling
The 2014-2015 Girls Bowling season will be underway in the blink of an eye!! Last season saw the Steelwomen awarded the Team GPA award from the IHSA for maintaining at least a 3.0 for the third year in a row...we are so very proud of you ladies!!! This last season also saw the first group of Sectional Qualifiers under the new state series format. We are eager to get our season under way and see what these girls will do this year!!
Our bowling philosophy is that in order to be successful players, the girls must have a passion for bowling and dedication to their team. All members of this team are important whether they play one game all season or play every single game. Each girl has something special to contribute to this team, even if they don’t realize it! Each member of this team is a student first and a bowler second. We expect consistent attendance, sportsmanship, and hard work on the lanes and in the classroom. While our ultimate goal is to win every match/tournament possible, sometimes some of life’s best lessons come in learning to lose gracefully.
Bowling is more than just throwing the ball down the lane. In order to succeed, we need to perfect our technique, skills and, be able to keep our mental games sharp. Not all learning comes from the physical aspect of the game though, athletes will be asked to read articles of particular importance at times. Throughout the season the players will be challenged physically and mentally by the teams we play against, by the coaches, but most importantly by themselves.
Parents should encourage their athletes to show dedication and determination in all their athletic endeavors! While having your own equipment is not completely necessary, your athlete should know that true improvement cannot happen when you’re using a different ball that may or may not fit your hand every time. Eating healthy before matches and tournaments as well as practicing on her own can only help her improve as well. Your support and attendance are always greatly appreciated at matches and tournaments.
Thank you for your support, of JT, of your daughter, and of this team. Go Steelwomen!
