Apply to STARTALK, Free Summer Language Institute for High School Students 
This year’s STARTALK summer program offers fun and intensive instruction in beginning and intermediate Chinese on the Lewis University Romeoville campus from June 26 – July 21, 2017. There are no tuition costs for the students. Successful STARTALK students  will receive 3

April 1st: Community Chess Day at Joliet Central 
The Joliet Central High School Chess Team will be hosting their 1st Annual Community Chess Day on April 1 at Joliet Central High School’s Cafeteria, 201 East Jefferson St in Joliet, on April 1st from 11:00am to 3:00pm in an effort to raise funds for their trip to Super Nationals in Nashville, Tennessee.  

Admission is free, and guests will have the opportunity to learn how to play chess and play other competitive games in a fun family environment. There will be refreshments prepared for sale during this event and all proceeds will go directly to the Chess Team.

April 5: SAT Exam Scheduled  
All juniors in the state of Illinois will take the SAT assessment on Wednesday, April 5th. Juniors will report directly to the field house for the test.  Students must bring their IDs, calculators, and pencils. Testing is expected to be completed by 1:35 and students will be dismissed to the cafeteria for lunch at 1:50.  Following lunch, students will report to period 8. 


April 7-9: Spring Play "The Laramie Project" 
The Joliet Central Drama Department will be performing “The Laramie Project” as this year’s Spring Play in the Joliet Central Auditorium.  Performances will begin at 7pm on Friday and Saturday, the 7th and 8th, and at 3pm on Sunday the 9th. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors and can be purchased at the door. 


April 7: Joliet Central Kermes Committee's Follow Your Dream Scholarship  
The deadline to apply for the Follow Your Dream Scholarships, for Seniors who have DACA or are undocumented, is April 7th. The application is available in room 279. Click here to download the Scholarship Application 


April 19: ACT and other District Testing

April 21: JCHS Band Parents Association to Host Big Band Dinner Dance April 21 
The Joliet Central Band Parents Association will host their annual Big Band Dinner Dance Friday, April 21 in the Victorian Ballroom, 15 South Richards Street in Joliet, under Band Director Don Stinson and featuring  the Joliet Central Big Band and the new Jazz Lab Band.  

A social hour will start at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 per person or $85 per couple. There will be cash bar, raffles, as well as silent and live auctions.

April 24: Kermes Fundraiser at Chipotle 
Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support the JTHS Community KERMES. Come in to the Chipotle at 2609 W. Jefferson St in Joliet on Monday, April 24th between 4:00pm and 8:00pm. Bring in this flyer, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you're supporting the cause to make sure that 50% of the proceeds will be donated to JTHS Community KERMES.
