  1. Students and Staff:  Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow will be a late start SIP day (Schedule “B”- periods 5,6,7,8).  (Arana)
  1. Buy a “Steelmen Hand - Helping Earthquake/ Tornado Victims”!  A big hand sells for $3 and a small hand for $1.  Our goal is $3000!  If everyone in the school gives $1 then we will surpass our goal.  The hands are being sold during lunch hours in the cafeteria or TEACHERS may sell them in their class- just tell your teacher and hand them your money.  We will then bring the hands to your class for you to sign and collect the money and post them in the cafeteria.  Let’s fill the cafeteria with helping hands and help people that really need help at this time!!  (Edwards)

Attention Fearless Females:  Zonta is hosting a service recognition and induction on November 15th.  In order to recognize those who have done service with us, you will need to e-mail Ms. Samsa and Ms. Boykin with a list of the service projects you completed for the club LAST SCHOOL YEAR.  You must e-mail us by the next meeting, which will be on October 18th.  Please e-mail these lists to asamsa@jths.org and vboykin@jths.org.  (Samsa)
  1. On Tuesday, October 31st, the Elwood Village Hall is holding a Halloween event from 3:30-8pm.  Help with riding the trams, tram stops, crafts, food, set-up, take-down, and passing out treats is needed.  Please contact Marie Rodgers at 815-424-1094 or marie.rodgers@villageofelwood.com for more information.  (Klugiewicz)
  1. Competitive cheerleading tryouts will be October 24th-26th from 3:30-6pm in the Fieldhouse.  See Coach Reeder in room 121 or stop by the Athletics Office to get a tryout packet.  Participants must register on 8 to 18, have a current physical on file, and come to each day of tryouts.  (Reeder)
  1. Steelmen Open starts next week.  It will be held for two days, October 24th & 25th.  There will be 5 on 5 basketball and 6 on 6 soccer.  Cost is $5 per player- register now!  (Chism)
  1. Steelette Poms Tryouts will be on Monday, October 30th and Tuesday, October 31st from 3:30-5:30pm. Meet in the Old Cafeteria that Monday. Go to Room 860 or 191 to grab an info packet, you must have a completed info packet in order to tryout.  If you have any questions, see Coach Phillips in Room 860 or Coach McGowan in Room 191.  (Phillips)
