Joliet Township High School Seeks Volunteers to Judge US History & World Affairs Presentations
Joliet Township High School needs parents, community members, business representatives, educators and alumni to judge our students' US History and World Affairs presentations. Students are researching a contemporary world issue or US History event and will present a persuasive argument to each volunteer judge. There is no preparation or prior knowledge of history necessary to participate. All materials and instructions will be given to judges on the day of the event. Your participation will provide our students with an authentic audience and a unique outside perspective.
Volunteers can donate as little as 2 hours or a whole day. They will be provided with a simple scoring sheet that will be used while the students deliver their presentations. In addition, breakfast and lunch will be provided to volunteers.
Judges are needed at Joliet Central High School on May 10 History Fair and May 19 World-A-fair. Joliet West High School judges are needed for May 11 History Fair and May 20 World-A-fair. All presentations will take place during the school day from 8:20 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
To make this event a success, we need about 1,000 volunteer judges since there are 2,000 students participating in this event. We know this is a big goal, but we are confident that our parents, community and alumni will provide their support.
