Joliet Central High School
Coordinator of Special Services
The special education department is comprised of a dedicated staff that works hard to meet the individual academic and social/emotional needs of students with disabilities. Our students will receive an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) which includes a transition services plan, goal setting and progress monitoring. We have programs designed to meet the individual educational needs of students with a wide range of disabilities. Students receive services throughout all curricular levels. Special education teachers are involved in co-teaching and instructional level programs. Our related services personnel, which includes social workers, a psychologist, speech pathologists and OT/PT offer additional support to both students and classroom teachers within the school setting. In addition, counseling, assessment, academic and behavioral interventions are provided and monitored according to each students’ IEP. We are proud of the services and programs that have been developed to assist our students as they transition to post-secondary opportunities.
