Dear JTHS Alumni,
It is our pleasure to invite you to an important fundraising event that will benefit Joliet Township High School students. The event will be held on August 5th at the Jacob Henry Mansion in Joliet from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. to raise funds for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentor2.0 program.
Over two years ago, JTHS and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will and Grundy Counties formed a partnership to provide our students with one-on-one mentoring aimed at ensuring more students enroll in college and graduate with a degree. JTHS students are matched with mentors from local businesses who e-mail students on a weekly basis and meet once a month at the high school. Mentors provide ongoing college preparation and guidance throughout our students’ sophomore, junior and senior years of high school.
This partnership is only possible thanks to generous funding from Big Brothers Big Sisters. Funding provides two dedicated Big Brothers Big Sisters staff members who spend time with our students in their Advisory Class. In addition it pays for the electronic platform that students and mentors use to communicate with one another in a safe and secure environment. Funding also provides a nutritious meal for the students and their mentors at every face-to-face meeting.
We have many prominent community members who have volunteered their time to mentor our students and they are very committed to the program. Please consider supporting this program by attending this event or through sponsorship.
